What we record, and what we delete
Written to be read by a shop owner and their staff — not by a lawyer. If anything
here is unclear, ask and we'll answer plainly.
The short version
A small unit sits at your counter. It turns speech into text on the device itself and
deletes the audio within seconds. The recording never leaves your shop, and nobody —
including us — can listen back to it, because it no longer exists.
What we analyse is anonymised text with personal details stripped out. What you get back is
a weekly summary of patterns: what customers asked for, what you didn't have, what came up
again and again. Never who said it.
Exactly what happens to a sentence spoken at your counter
- Captured — only the counter area, only while you're open.
- Transcribed on the device. The audio is processed by the box on your counter.
It is not uploaded anywhere to do this.
- Deleted, in about 0.7 seconds. The audio is destroyed as soon as the text exists.
It is held in memory, not written to a disk. There is no recording to leak, to subpoena,
or to hand over — not because we promise not to, but because there isn't one.
- Scrubbed. Names, phone numbers, card numbers and similar details are removed from
the text before it goes anywhere.
- Analysed. The anonymised text is sent to our analysis service to find patterns.
- Reported. You see a weekly summary in your dashboard.
Only step 5 leaves your building, and by then it is text with the personal
details already taken out. The audio never gets that far.
Things this product will never do
These aren't settings you can switch on. They're decisions about what we will and won't build.
- No voiceprints. We do not build a voice signature for anyone, staff or customer.
The system cannot recognise the same person coming back.
- No scoring your staff. There is no per-employee anything. If you want a tool to
rank your cashiers, this isn't it, and we won't sell it to you as one.
- Counter only. Not the whole shop, not the back room, not the break area.
- We never sell your data. Not to brands, not to distributors, not to anyone.
It isn't a side business we haven't started yet — it's not the business.
- No individuals in reports. Everything you see is aggregated across the counter.
Your staff, and the sign on the counter
Your team should know it's there. We provide a small notice sign for the counter, and we'd
ask you to tell your staff before the unit goes in — both because it's the decent thing to
do, and because a team that understands it isn't being monitored stops worrying about it.
Recording laws vary by state and country, and some places require
clear notice or consent. We're not able to give you legal advice about your specific
situation — please check the rules where you operate. The notice sign is there to help,
not to be a legal guarantee.
The account information you give us
Separate from anything spoken at the counter, we hold what you typed in to set up:
- Your name, email and phone, your shop's name and address.
- Your password, stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it, which is why a reset
gives you a new one rather than telling you the old one.
- Your shop's Wi-Fi details, if you give them to us, so we can set the unit up before
we arrive. The password is encrypted, is visible only to us for that setup, and is
deleted from our records as soon as the unit is configured. We don't keep it.
- The anonymised text from the last 24 hours. This is the scrubbed text described
above — never the audio, which no longer exists by this point. We keep one day of it so
a report can be explained and checked: if your report looks wrong or empty, we can see
what was actually heard instead of guessing. It is deleted automatically after 24
hours by the database itself, not by someone remembering to do it. You can read your
own shop's text any time, and you can ask us to switch this off entirely — the product
works without it.
Your weekly reports are visible to you and to us. They aren't visible to other stores.
Asking for your data, or leaving
Ask us and we'll tell you everything we hold about you, send you a copy, or delete it
and close your account. There's no retention trick and no exit fee — email
furkandevelimedia@gmail.com and a person
will answer. Note there is no audio to request or delete: it never survived the counter.
Who we share with
The services that make the product work, and nobody else: our hosting and database provider,
our email provider for account mail, and the AI service that reads the anonymised text to
produce your report. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and no advertiser or
data broker receives anything.
Questions about any of this? Get in touch — a person replies, not a form.
Countergist is an early-stage product run by a small team. If we ever change how any of this
works, we'll tell you before it takes effect — not in a footer update you'd never see.
